- What is "ISTE" and what does "NECC" stand for?: The International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) "is the premier membership association for educators and education leaders engaged in improving teaching and learning by advancing the effective use of technology in PK-12 and higher education." The National Educational Computing Conference (NECC) "has been the premier forum in which to learn, exchange, and survey the field of educational technology. This annual conference features hands-on workshops, lecture-format and interactive concurrent sessions, discussions with key industry leaders, and the largest educational technology exhibit in the nation.

- Where did the term "wiki" come from?: In 1994, as means by which software developers could quickly communicate, Ward Cunningham created the first wiki. Utilizing the Hawaiian word for "quick" he named it WikiWikiWeb. Cunningham had first heard the word "wiki" at the Honolulu International Airport where an employee suggested he take the "Wiki Wiki Shuttle" bus that ran between the terminals.

- Why NECC?:
"It was valuable to see what other schools and districts were doing to integrate technology. I gathered and shared many resources from NECC. I have added many of the resources I have found to the Mahtomedi_Online_Resources delicious account, so they can be searched by staff throughout the year." (Christine Carlson)

"This was an eye opener regarding the magnitude of hardware and software that I had no idea existed. Interactions at NECC and with other educators continually reinforces how lucky we are in 832 with our Technology staff, level of implementation, and functionality of what we have. While looking at the poster sessions from teachers around the country, it is very clear to me that we are blessed with many teacher leaders in 832 who have a great deal to share beyond our school district, regarding technology." (Brett Smith)
